The East Coburg Action Group are a group of residents who are not against a development, but are greatly concerned about the lack of consultation, the size of the development and the issues which will flow from such a high density plan.
The traffic issues will not only affect Moore St but also Nicholson St and beyond.
VicUrban have planning permission to construct a nine-storey high density residential / retail development on the old tram shed site between Moreland Rd and Moore St in East Coburg.
The Planning Minister Justin Madden last week approved 'The Nicholson', a nine-storey block on the east side of Nicholson St just north of Moreland Rd.
Fifty-eight of the units will be built as social housing through the federal Nation Building initiative. Under the initiative, councils lose their planning powers and residents do not have to be consulted.
Residents were only made aware of the development and its scale after it had been approved by the Planning Minister through Wills federal Labor MP
