Endeavour Fern Gully |
Endeavour Fern Gully provides visitors with a glimpse of the original natural environment of the Mornington Peninsular.
It includes 17.5 hectares of natural indigenous bushland that has natural regrowth of many indigenous middle and ground story plants and a lush fern gully. It includes natural habitats and wetlands and provides a sanctuary for animals, birds and rare vegetative species indigenous to the Mornington peninsular.
The site includes boardwalks and a nature trail for schools is being developed.
The property was donated to the Trust by Mr John Douglas in 1973 and was then opened to the public in 1989.
A friends group under the leadership of Mr Stewart Calder erected boardwalks, fenced the gully and established a walking track.
Endeavour Fern Gully was classified in 2007 and recent reparations have returned the trail to full public access with new boardwalks, a marked trail and car park.
