Livina Nixon

Livinia Helen Nixon born 19 March 1975 in Melbourne is an Australian television presenter and actor who has worked on a number of programs appearing on the Nine Network.

Livinia is known for her appearances with mayor John So in a tourism promotion campaign for the city of Melbourne entitled "That's Melbourne". The campaign was successful enough to be spun off into a half-hour television show hosted by Nixon.

Livinia Nixon's television career began while she was at University studying for her Commerce Arts Degree (majoring in Marketing and Chinese). The eve of her final exams was the first day of filming on "The Comedy Channel"with Glenn Robbins and Marty Sheargold.

Livinia Nixon started her commercial television career at Channel Nine in 1997.

She joined the Melbourne edition of National Nine News as a weather presenter at the start of 2004 and continues to present weeknight weather reports as well as co-host Temptation. She also joined the Getaway team this year as a guest reporter.

Nixon had a busy year in 2004 hosting GTV-9's Postcards and That's Melbourne and continuing in her four-year role as ambassador for Melbourne and the face of the City of Melbourne's ongoing Me! promotional campaign.

Nixon joined the Postcards team in 2000, reporting on the tourist highlights of Victoria. She also produced her own stories and in March 2004 became host of the program, which brought her to the attention of the executive producer of That's Melbourne.

In 2004, Nixon joined Garry Lyon and Dave O'Neil as host of That's Melbourne, which looked at the great attractions around the city and followed the hit special Melbourne - Secrets Of The City, which she hosted earlier that year.

Her weather-presenting skills came to the fore when she was asked to fill in for former weather presenter Monte Dwyer on the Today Show over summer 2001. This led to a regular role as weather presenter on National Nine News in Melbourne during summer and other holiday periods in 2002 and 2003. She was appointed full-time weather presenter at the start of 2004.

In 2001, Nixon hosted the popular Children's Christmas Concert that preceded Channel Nine's annual family favourite, Carols by Candlelight.

She joined Australia's top-rating variety show Hey Hey It's Saturday as a permanent team member in January 1998, jumping at the opportunity to perform in front of a live studio audience.

Prior to Hey Hey, she worked alongside television's most famous duck as host of the children's program Plucka's Place (Melbourne and regional Victoria only).

Nixon is currently filling in for Kate Langbroek while she is on maternity leave on the Hughesy, Kate and Dave breakfast show on Nova. She is well equipped for the role, with prior experience as a guest announcer on Melbourne radio stations TTFM and FOX FM. Nixon spent 18 months as the regular afternoon presenter on TTFM with Ed Phillips.

Prior to embarking on a television career, she studied drama and completed a commerce arts degree at Deakin University, majoring in marketing and Chinese. She completed a graduate diploma in applied science at Melbourne University in 2004.

Livinia Nixon is an ambassador for World Vision and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. A keen traveller, she has visited Japan, China and Africa as well as donning a backpack through America, Europe, Finland and Estonia.

Not only is Livinia is a supporter of the Richmond Football Club, she is a Melburnian through and through. Oh will you marry me?
