City Square is opposite Melbourne Town Hall at the intersection of Swanston St and Collins St, Melbourne.

City Square now includes an entrance to the new underground Town Hall station, one of the city's five new state-of-the-art underground stations.

The revamped square features spaces for events, retail and hospitality, along with new landscaping and artworks.

Smoking Ceremony Dish

At the centre will be a permanent Smoking Ceremony dish that was developed with Wurundjeri Elders, while a digital interactive version of the much-loved Mockridge Fountain will delight both community and passengers as they enter or exit the station.

The smoking ceremony dish surrounded by 12,000 custom-laid pavers developed with Wurundjeri elder Aunty Joy Wandin Murphy OAM.

City Square Melbourne


City Square has been the heart and meeting place of Melburnian's for many years.

Once home to the Yellow Peril sculpture (The Vault) by Ron Robertson-Swann, City Square was the city's central piazza.
