THE sun gods are expected to dazzle Victoria's sports lovers on the first day of an action-packed racing weekend. Amoung the hundreds of special events being held this weekend in Melbourne are the Caulfield Cup, Motorcycle Grand Prix and Rugby World Cup.
Tens of thousands of tourists in town for the championships trifecta are expected to add to the international excitement of the weekend.
Caulfield Cup - 2003
A crowd of more than 45,000 is expected to enjoy the Carlton Draught Caulfield Cup. With the grand final judging of the Chadstone Fashion Stakes, girls will go all out to show off their best.

Motorcycle Grand Prix - Phillip Island
Huge crowds have already headed down to Phillip Island for all the motorcycle action. Heightened security together with a more obvious police presence will aid the recovery in crowd figures. An unexpected drawcard at Caulfield will be the presence of members of the New Zealand All Blacks rugby team, who agreed only late yesterday to attend the event on their first day off.
