Melbourne Yoshinkan Aikido |
We are an exclusive club dedicated to traditional in-depth study of Yoshinkan Aikido as taught by Takeno Takafumi Sensei (Kudan) in Yamanashi, Japan.
Aikido, the art of harmony, was developed between 1920 and 1960, by Morihei Ueshiba. He is known as O'Sensei, or 'Great Teacher'. Aikido was O'sensei's life work, a journey that blended intense physical training, with deep philosophical and spiritual insights.
The basis of Aikido lies in the ability to harmonise in conflict. A simple example is that rather than trading strikes with our attacker, Aikido teaches us to use the force of the attack to apply technique and subdue. This is what makes Aikido perfect for both men and women, and for people with different levels of strength. It's not about brute force; it's about understanding force.
Yoshinkan Aikido is a dynamic form of Aikido. It teaches effective Aikido technique in a clear and systematic approach.
