Merri Creek Management Committee |
Merri Creek Management Committee Incorporated is an integrated environmental management agency formed in 1989 to achieve the shared vision for the Creek of the stakeholders in the Merri Creek Catchment. It is an incorporated association whose members are the Darebin, Hume, Moreland, Whittlesea and Yarra City Councils and Friends of Merri Creek, plus (in 2003) Mitchell Shire Council. Representatives of these member groups form a Committee of Management which guides MCMC's activities.
Primary Purpose:
MCMC aims to ensure the preservation, restoration, environmental protection and ecologically sensitive development and maintenance of the Merri Creek and adjoining catchment areas, with a long term aim of securing a major regional park ("the Merri Creek Parklands") with significant recreation and conservation value.
