Any memory of Melbourne and icecream must include Mr Whippy.

I have wonderful memories of Mr Whippy vans.

Hearing the music brings back memories of youth, summer, friends and mum, can we have icecream?

Mr Whippy was an Australian manufacturer and distributor of Soft serve and Frozen Yogurt products largely in its Mr Whippy vans.

The original Mr Whippy company commenced operations in Sydney Australia in October 1962. The vans were an instant hit with Australians appearing in most capital cities and towns.

Over 200 Commer Karrier vans were imported to Australia in the early 1960s. Precious few of these much loved original vans have survived today.

Jared Morgan has written a wonderful history of Mr Whippy and well worth a read, specially about the song that told us all that Mr Whippy was coming.. Greensleeves.
