Your guide to Melbourne events, exhibitions and sport February 19 - 25, 2007.
Can you believe they already have Easter eggs in the shops? There is so much happening in Melbourne before April 16th, time will be going even faster. It is now the Chinese Year of The Pig which is considered a good year to bear children. Madame Butterfly in English by Melbourne Opera has been getting great reviews, it finishes this Saturday. Boyz II Men will be appearing at the Metro nightclub this Thursday. If you like Shakespeare, then you can still have a relaxing night at he Botanical Gardens watching 'A Midsummer's Night Dream'.
This Sunday you can feel good inside out by going in the Summer Cycle for MS. The 30 km course might seem like a long way, but remember Melbourne doesn't have too many hills. Many people have been taking advantage of the great weather and have been enjoying the outdoor cinemas; St George near Federation Square, Moonlight and Cameo Cinemas. If you missed Little Britain Live, you can see it again this Sunday. The Fairfield Amphitheatre Summer Concert starts at 5 pm Sunday and is a great family event.
Everyone loves a free concert, so opera lovers can enjoy music by Benjamin, Chopin, Mozart and Rachmaninov at Sidney Myer Music Bowl this Saturday. The Quilt Convention at the Melbourne Convention Centre starts this Thursday and gets bigger and better every year. Another fun way to support Uniting Care is to buy a pancake this Shrove Tuesday. Pancake Day is to help raise funds for the homeless, abused and vulnerable children and adults, the frail aged, families in crisis and those with disabilities.
