Melbourne is packed to the rafters with international visitors in town for the Grand Prix, Swimming Championships and Moomba!

This Thursday the 2007 Australian Grand Prix kicks off at Albert Park circuit. It's an inner-city party that last for four days but brings year-round interest. World champions, gold medal Olympians, show business stars and leading national sporting and media personalities will be out to prove who is the best of the best in this year's BMW Celebrity Challenge.

2007 World Swimming ChampionshipsCan you believe that a circus, live music, cabaret, street performers, music theatre, music performers, children's activities and art installations are all part of the Swimming Festival which begins this Saturday. The 2007 World Swimming Championships opening night concert will feature music by Diafrix this Saturday at 9:20 pm on the Federation Square Stage.

The 2007 Brunswick Musical Festival starts this Thursday. Once again the standard Brunswick mix of styles and genres seems to be well satisfied with an amazing eclectic selection of artists from all over the world. One of the major highlights of the overall program is the appearance of Banditaliana lead by Ricardo Tessi, who will open the program at the Brunswick Town Hall on Thursday 15 March. This is a special band, a super group of musicians anchoring a claim for Italy into the higher ranks of the world music regime in Europe.

Melbourne Food and Wine FestivalMelbourne Food and Wine Festival begins on Friday, it is a unique event which operates on a not for profit basis. The Festival's charter is to promote the quality produce, talent and lifestyle of Melbourne and the State of Victoria and to reinforce Melbourne as the pre-eminent culinary city of Australia. There are many much loved events such as the World's Longest Lunch, Spice Bazaar and Hawkers Market.

Wear something Green and celebrate St Patrick's Day this Saturday the 17th of March. St Patrick famously used the three leaf shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity to the Irish, and as Victorians gear up to celebrate the life of Ireland's favourite saint, Guinness is urging party-goers to harness the 'power of three' for the ultimate St Patrick's Day, .. a cold Guinness, a great pub and your best mates.

World's Greatest Shave

The Leukaemia Foundation's World's Greatest Shave will take place on 15-17 March 2007 to raise vital funds for the 30,000 Australians living with leukaemias, lymphomas, myeloma and related blood disorders.

Come and join the Thai Community as they celebrate and showcase their rich and historical culture:The Thai Cullture & Food Festival , will begin on Sunday with a traditional blessing by seven monks, and an opening ceremony. Federation Square will be transformed into a haven of Thai culture with booths showcasing Thai arts and crafts, Thai tourism, fruit carving, offering Thai massage and information about Thailand and its people.There will be continuous entertainment on stage with performances of Thai dance, Thai kickboxing, Thai jazz, a beauty contest and a fashion parade featuring the best in Thai designs including famous Thai silk.

Monday the 12th is your last chance to see the Melbourne International Motor Show. It's one of the world's longest running motor shows and Melbourne's largest indoor exhibition. The star attraction this year is the Caparo T1 which can accelerate to 160 km/h in less than 5 seconds and it promises a top speed beyond 300 km/h. Most of the major car manufacturers will be displaying their latest and upcoming models.

Don't miss the annual Moomba Waterfest Festival. joining Melbourne's cultural communities including the 52nd Moomba Parade. See floats, marching bands, dancers and street performers as they travel down Swanston Street on Monday, 12 March from 11am to 12pm. The Parade moves along Swanston Street from Little Bourke Street to Princess Bridge, ending in the St Kilda Road Service Lane (opposite the Arts Centre).

Moomba FireworksRoll up to the river and watch it ignite with the Moomba Waterfest Fireworks. Stand river-side for an intimate display of sparkling stars and a billion brilliant lights splashing over the Yarra in a pyrotechnic performance. Bring a blanket and settle in for a dazzling spectacular in the sky this Monday, 9.30pm along the banks of the Yarra River (between Princes Bridge and Swan Street Bridge).

Hearts will pound and heads will spin as the most thrilling, daring and exciting rides come to Birrarung Marr. Join the adrenaline rush on the many scream-inducing rides or try your luck and win a prize at one of the sideshow stalls. There's also a kids' carnival near the Children's Garden for the younger Moomba-goers. Rides are ticketed. Moomba is at Birrarung Marr (Lower Terrace), both sides of the river, near Federation Square.

Queen Victoria Market this week

'CODE ONE' the Victorian Police Band will be playing covers of crowd favourites on Sunday 18 March, from 12 noon to 2pm at the marquee on the corner of Queen & Victoria Streets, near the ATMS.

The Stitches & Craft Show is on at Caulfield Racecourse from Wednesday 14 March to Sunday 18 March 2007 and will feature more than 50 workshops and demonstrations on everything from traditional crafts such as embroidery, knitting and quilting, to contemporary crafts including scrapbooking, jewellery creation, home decor and wearable art. Craft aficionado Yazmina De Gaye, dubbed the 'crochet goddess', will be on hand to teach attendees how to crochet their own elegant scarf and embellish it with personal touches.. a great way to add flair to any outfit!

NAB Cup Grand Final - Saturday 17th
Carlton plays Brisbane in the NAB Cup Grand Final this Saturday at Telstra Dome.� There has been suggestion that the game may be moved to Brisbane due to accommodation problems with so many people in town for other events.�
