There's also the Perry Street Festival with music, food and entertainment, and the Human Rights Arts & Film Festival continues. For the kids there's also Scuba Santa at Melbourne Aquarium, and the Wiggles - live at Rod Laver Arena!

Major Events Guide
Chanukah in the City will be held December 11th at Fed Square with the Festival of Lights celebrating the Jewish tradition of Chanukah with fabulous rides, activities and entertainment!
Hosted by Melbourne comedian, Steve Bidwell, the event begins at 4pm. Special guests include the renowned Jewish punk rock band Yidcore (pictured).
Perry Street Festival is a local community festival, displaying Collingwood's diverse community with a unique celebration of local cultures including local musical talent, information stalls from community organisations, an outdoor organic eatery and daytime children's entertainment. The festival will also feature displays highlighting environmentally sustainability. Run by Friends of the Earth, it takes place on Sunday.
Advent Calendar @ Fed Square - Celebrate the spirit of Christmas as the East Shard at Federation Square is transformed into a magical Advent Calendar - 24 days, 25 windows, 25 performances! Talented aerialists will perform in front of a magical animation, unveiling each day's window on the side of a three-storey building. There will be a free performance at 9pm every night in December with a finale on Christmas Eve!
The Human Rights Arts and Film Festival, running from November 29 to December 15, features 4 days of award-winning films and discussion salons exploring the weird and wonderful world of human rights, as well as a 2-week art exhibition. Inspired by similar festivals held in New York, London and Johannesburg, the first-ever Australian Human Rights Arts and Film Festival is about to take off in Melbourne!

Once Upon a Space, held at Brunswick Street Gallery, is an exhibition by Ben Howe that showcases paintings made while living in Hamburg, where he refined a critical vision of the modern city as a recent migrant, exploring Hamburg's forgotten cultural centre.
The Octopus & The Rat features new works by Samuel Tupou, who immigrated to Australia at the age of 10 and joined an artist cooperative in his teens where he learned street art and print based techniques. The exhibition will be at MARS Gallery until December 21.
Contemporary Silver & Metalwork Award 2007
This exhibition features work by contemporary Australian artists as part of this year's Buda Contemporary Australian Silver & Metalwork Award, which attracts artists from across the nation.
Masks of China at the Immigration Museum features handmade masks from China, some which are over 200 years old. With free entry for children the exhibition includes fun kids activity trail with the chance to sketch and colour-in their own mask!
Artefact is an exhibition in which thirteen contemporary artists have woven small-scale works through historical artefacts, putting a new twist on the traditional forms of display at City Museum's Making Melbourne Galleries.
Harry's Christmas is a darkly comic story of the downward spiral of a very lonely man facing depression head-on to see the comic side of being suicidal at what's supposedly the happiest time of year... Currently playing at Northcote Town Hall.
Christmas to Candlemas is a performance by Melbourne's outstanding chamber choir, Ensemble Gombert, noted for its pure intonation and historic approach to choral sound and style. They will be performing ay Xavier College Chapel on December 15.
The Madwoman of Chaillot, currently playing at the Arts Centre, features Magda Szubanski in a timely play that examines those who value money over quality of life and regard compassion as a form of madness, and how they always seem to be in power!
Glengarry Glen Ross, the award-winning comedy by David Mamet, will be performed at Chapel Off Chapel from November 29 to December 16. Presented by Human Sacrifice Theatre, the play is renowned for its colourful language as much for its compelling drama.
Monty Python's SPAMALOT, the smash hit Broadway and West End musical, has finally hit Melbourne, playing at Her Majesty's Theatre. Directed by Mike Nichols, the play is based on one of the Pythons' best-loved films, Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Fitzroy was Melbourne's first suburb, created when the area between Melbourne and Alexandra Parade (originally named Newtown) was subdivided into vacant lots and offered for sale.
Newtown was later renamed Collingwood, and the area now called Fitzroy (west of Smith Street) was made a ward of the Melbourne City Council. On 10 September 1858, Fitzroy became a municipality in its own right, separate from the City of Melbourne.
Fitzroy is also infamous for being home to the 1920's gangster figure, Squizzy Taylor, who frequented the area around the junction of Napier Street and Gertrude Street.
