Film Festivals
The Greek Film Festival, now celebrating its 17th year, presents a selection of contemporary films direct from Greece. Held at Palace Cinemas in South Yarra, the festival offers a program of challenging short films and powerful documentaries, interspersed with films by Greek-Australian filmmakers.

The Message Sticks Film Festival returns this year to the Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre at Melbourne Museum with its biggest program to date. With screenings held in the museum's Age Theatre, it includes The New Black with short films and documentaries from emerging Indigenous film-makers.

An Open Studio Day will be held at the Pieces of Eight Gallery in North Fitzroy as part of Craft Victoria's Craft Cubed festival. The day offers a look behind the scenes of the studios of the gallery's six resident jewellers along with a floor talk with Tessa Blazey about her current exhibition, Fabrication.

These walls can talk, held by artist Josephine Bradley Scott at Collingwood's Per Square Meter Gallery, is an exhibition that celebrates positive body image. On the day, the artist will create art on Sportsgirl bags and shoes with all proceeds going to The Butterfly Foundation's support of eating disorder sufferers.

The Collective, a group of artists who work in a myriad of styles and media, will be holding their first exhibition will be held at Space 39 on Little Collins Street. With all contributing artists being employees of Museum Victoria, much of the work is influenced by collections held at the museum.

I saw and heard of none like me is a group exhibition by six artists exploring identity with drawing, painting, printmaking, photography and sculpture. The Spirit of the Black Dress Exhibition, part of Melbourne Spring Fashion Week, showcases the works of emerging fashion and textile designers who were invited to create their own interpretation of a contemporary black dress. Judged by industry experts, the results are displayed at Georges on Collins.

The Extra Ordinary Exhibition, held to celebrate the release of Sigma's DP2 camera, features the work of fifteen well-known Australian photographers who were chosen to capture everyday ordinary objects that they find extraordinary. The New Scientist Eureka Prize Exhibition is a stunning display of imagery that showcases the best twenty-five entries in the annual Science Photography competition, sponsored by New Scientist. The Revolution in Colour is an exhibition by Brendan Parkes, held at the gallery 69 Smith Street in Collingwood. Between the Lines is the 5th Annual Artist Books Exhibition by Artisan Books in Fitzroy. With a given theme inspiring works for each exhibition, this year's theme of 'Between the Lines' has attracted an amazing collection of works redefining the boundaries of books, raising them to sculptural form.

From East to West by Liu Xiao Xian, a contemporary Chinese Australian artist, is an exhibition at Melbourne's RMIT Gallery that explores the nuances between East and West. Melbourne City School, located on the corner of King and Little Collins Streets, will be holding a series of Open Days to showcase the school's educational vision with Drop-in Sessions during which the public can explore the campus, meet staff and learn more about their fresh approach to education.

Performances & Theatre
The Kids Are Alright, presented by Little Ones Theatre, explores post-apocalyptic adolescence in a world where sexual enlightenment and the fate of the stars are held by youths driven by survival. Told in two epic parts, the adrenaline fuelled fantasia runs for a limited time at Northcote Town hall.

Once We Lived Here, performed at Flinders Lane's Forty Five Downstairs, is a new Australian musical by Dean Bryant and Mathew Frank. The play examines the passing of a way of life in rural Northern Victoria during a family gathering at a sheep station when hard truths are exposed.

Off the Hook, presented by Eltham Little Theatre, is a comedy of errors set in the lounge bar of Hook House, a quiet hotel in the English countryside where an assortment of guests, including an escaped prisoner, create mayhem that becomes classic farce. Death and the King's Horseman, performed at South Yarra's Cromwell Road Theatre, is based on the true story by Nigerian playwright, Wole Soyinka. Portraying a 1946 incident in Nigeria when British intervention during a funeral ritual led to tragedy, the play is co-produced with the HOPE Sudanese theatre group.

God of Carnage, featuring Pamela Rabe and Hugo Weaving, is a play by Tony Award winner, Yasmina Reza, a French playwright whose corrosive wit examines the darker sides of human nature as a playground scuffle escalates when the parents of those involved enter the fray with good intentions.

Chicago, appearing at Her Majesty's Theatre, is one of the true greats in Broadway history that tells the tale of Roxie Hart, a nightclub dancer with dreams of stardom who kills her lover and goes to prison.
