Parents Returning to Work Program |
2003 - The Parents Returning to Work Program is a new initiative of the Victorian Government designed to assist parents prepare for re-entry into the workforce.
Under the Program, if you are a parent planning to return to work, you can apply for a grant to assist you. Grants entitle you to training and related expenses up to the value of $1,000.
Organisations eligible to register and participate in the Program include TAFE Institutes, Adult Community Education Centres, and other Registered Training Organisations.
Parents Returning to Work
The Parents Returning to Work Program will assist you prepare for re-entry into the workforce. If you are planning to return to work after being at home caring for children you can apply for a grant. This grant will entitle you to training and related expenses up to the value of $1,000.
Using the grant
There are 2 ways you can use the grant.
1. Parents Returning to Work Through Training
Training in courses that will assist you to improve your workforce skills, undertaken at an Adult Community Education centre, TAFE Institute or other Registered Training Organisation. The grant can also be used for training related costs such as child care and books
2. Parents Returning to Work Through University
The grant can be used towards first year HECS fees.
More about the Program
The training undertaken should increase your work skills or improve job prospects.
The Parents Returning to Work Program Grant is valid for 12 months from date of issue. Any unused portion is forfeited at the end of the 12 months.
Only one grant is provided per person.
Grants entitle you to training costs and other related expenses up to a maximum of $1,000.
Grants can only be used for training programs and training related expenses such a child care at an accredited child care centre and support materials such as books.
Grants are only valid when used at a participating training provider.
If you are unsure about your choice of course, staff at your chosen training provider will assist you.
The Parents Returning to Work Program Grants are available from July 2003.
Grants are available only for Victorian residents.
