Permanent Exhibitions
At the intersection of art and Jewish culture, our Museum is a place for all people to share in the Australian Jewish experience.
We have over 20, 000 items, the largest collection of Jewish-Australian artefacts in the world, predominantly donated by the community.
Our collection explores Jewish history and evolving identities, tradition and ritual, home and community - with each and every item telling a story, conjuring the lives of the people who made, used, collected or donated it.
Visit out permanent exhibits and enjoy stories told through historical and contemporary Judaica; fine art, photography and textiles; letters, diaries, documents and books; and everyday objects which speak to a richly diverse, ever-evolving, Jewish life in Australia.
Enjoy free admission to the Museum and explore our permanent exhibitions and visit the Museum shop.
A remarkable journey through 4,000 years of tumultuous Jewish history. This graphic exhibition allows you to walk through a timeline of Jewish history, stepping through the key events etched in sand on the floor. On the walls, discover the significant events of Jewish history through a combination of unique objects, images, text, film and the fine artwork of Heather Ellyard.
Celebrates the annual cycle of festivals and holy days that give rhythm and form to Jewish life. The exhibit demonstrates the connection between the Jewish calendar and lunar and solar years, as well as festivals that are tied to the agricultural cycles of the Land of Israel.
Examines the foundations of Judaism, the enduring religious beliefs and traditions that have bound Jews together through 4,000 years.
This exhibit tells some of the stories of generations of Australian Jews - the reasons they came, the lives they built for themselves and what it means to be Jewish in Australia today.
