Think Ahead
Think Ahead is a new permanent exhibition about advances in science and technology across ten themes - communication; medicine and health; music and sound; food; natural systems; transport; space; cities; daily life; and money.
It showcases more than 200 museum objects from the past, the present and the speculative future. Innovative technology will blend with hands-on experiences and inspire you to research, think creatively and share your ideas.
Ground Up: Building Big Ideas, Together
A new space for little tinkerers!
Ground Up: Building Big Ideas, Together is an exhibition for babies to five-year-olds where curiosity is rewarded around each bend with surprising and intriguing sights, sounds and touch sensations.
Future aeronautical engineers can design and construct flying contraptions; little sparks can make patterns and pictures with lights on a giant wall of colourful light-up switches; pint-sized problem solvers get to experiment and construct colourful three-dimensional puzzles; and for all the littlies who love to touch and experiment, there is a giant, colourful car wash to be engineered into action.
In our quieter baby zone, our earliest learners and their carers can lounge within soft forms, gaze at the mirrored reflections and gently turn the wall-spinners to create a cascade of materials within.
Ground Up: Building Big Ideas, Together immerses young children in an imaginative world of sensory discovery and construction-play that will ignite their lifelong engagement with science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).
Encourage your little learner to think big and nurture their curiosity to set them up with a foundation for future learning. Visit Ground Up: Building Big Ideas, Together and inspire the problem solvers of tomorrow.
Beyond Perception: Seeing the Unseen
Beyond Perception: Seeing the Unseen is a ground-breaking and unconventional permanent exhibition designed for teenagers.
Exploring the imperceptible worlds of science and technology, this brand new exhibition will look deeper, and see further than ever before.
Reflecting the latest and greatest stories from science and technology , this permanent exhibition will immerse teens in large-scale experiences that reveal the invisible fields and forces that surround us, such as gravitational waves, invisible light, sound and aerodynamics, and demonstrates current research which is continuing to uncover amazing hidden worlds around us.
Developed in consultation with scientists, acoustic engineers and teenagers, Beyond Perception is an intriguing space with a fresh and awe-inspiring new design approach.
Science is looking deeper, and seeing further than ever before. Beyond Perception will inspire visitors to look at how far we have come, and ask what will be next...
