Keith Rupert Murdoch is a business magnate, media proprietor, and investor.
Keith Rupert Murdoch was born on 11 March 1931 in Melbourne. His mother, Dame Elisabeth Murdoch is regarded our greatest Melburnian.
His company News Corp owns 100s of publishing outlets around the world, including in the UK (The Sun and The Times), in Australia (The Daily Telegraph, Herald Sun, and The Australian), in the US (The Wall Street Journal and the New York Post), book publisher HarperCollins, and the television broadcasting channels Sky News Australia and Fox News (through the Fox Corporation).
He previously owned Sky (2018), 21st Century Fox (2019) and News of the World.
Murdoch took over the running of The News (Adelaide) in 1952 after the passing of his father, Sir Keith Arthur Murdoch. From then, he expanded his network acquiring in the Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom and US.
His rise to fame and fortune has not been without controversary and scandal.
In 2023, his son James was named as his successor to take over News Corp.
