Shane Bourne was born 24 November 1949 in Glasgow, Scotland and is one of Australia's most versatile and best-loved stand-up comedians, and more recently an actor.

Bourne is a well-known comedic face appearing many times on Hey Hey It's Saturday and later hosted two seasons of a new Blankety Blanks.

In recent years Bourne has made the change to dramatic acting and has been critically acclaimed. After a two episode guest appearance on Blue Heelers in 2000, Bourne took the lead role of lawyer "Happy"Henderson, starring alongside Kerry Armstrong in MDA. He won Best Actor twice at the AFI Awards (in 2003 and 2005). The show ended after its third season, in September 2005. He also played a minor role in the movie Kokoda, an Australia WWII film on the Kokoda Track where he played as the battalion's doctor.

Bourne fronts the current series of Thank God You're Here on the Ten Network. He hosted the first two seasons in 2006. Also in 2006, he hosted How the Hell Did We Get Here?, a series that aired on the ABC.

Bourne is currently acting in the new Channel Seven series, City Homicide, which premiered on 27 August, 2007.
