The GAP Cafe |
There's a new place in West Melbourne, where the coffee has collars.
Greyhounds are the perfect breed for inner suburban and city living.
They don't need a lot of exercise or a big backyard, and
they're as low-maintenance as a dog gets; lazy, loving and low-tech.
Perfectly at home, wherever you are...
Got a GAP on your couch? We have the perfect filler.
Come and pat. Open Monday to Friday from 7am.
Weekends from 8am

Of all the dog breeds, greyhounds might be closest to our spirit animal. They're sleek and majestic, but take their nap times VERY seriously. So we were pretty stoked to hear there's a new greyhound cafe in the CBD. Better yet, a rescue greyhound cafe.
Yep, Greyhound Racing Victoria's Greyhound Adoption Program (GAP) has launched a greyhound-friendly coffee space, just near Flagstaff Gardens.
The new showcase venue is there to help educate people about greyhound adoption, find our furry friends some loving homes and (bonus) dish up caffeine to thirsty CBD office workers. Dogs are obviously very welcome, both inside and out back in the courtyard.
'Given the large number of people in metropolitan Melbourne, we want to promote our dogs to the largest audience possible,' says CEO Alan Clayton. 'This cafe will make it easier for people to meet our greyhounds.'
GAP's coffee comes from Campos, so you know it's the good stuff. They're also serving up a range of doughnuts and frothy puppyccinos (like regular cappuccinos, but with a slight Schmacko aftertaste...) There's also a few tablets lying around so you can browse the latest greyhounds up for adoption. As venues go, this one will get some serious tongues wagging.
