Victorian Men's Cricket Team

Cricket in Victoria has a long and proud history - fans have been cheering for the 'Big V' for over 150 years.

Victoria have won 32 Sheffield Shield titles, six One-day titles and four T20 titles before the current Big Bash League was formed.

The Victorian Cricket Team was formed over lunch at the Vienna Cafe more than one hundred years ago.

Today, a plaque marks the site and celebrates the Victorian Cricket Team's birth in Collins Street in the heart of Melbourne.

Since that day the VCA is proud of its reputation as the most innovative and progress cricket authority in Australia.

Victoria has produced a dazzling array of talented cricketers, very many of whom have gone on to represent Australia.

Names like Woodfull, Ponsford, Hassett, Harvey, Ryder, Miller, Maddocks, Trumble, Cowper, Johnson, Hughes, Warne, Johnston, Jones and Lawry are legends not only in Australia but around the cricketing world.

The Victorian Cricket Team of today follow the philosophy of all successful Victorian teams of the past. They are committed to taking risks and playing attacking, entertaining cricket.

It's a formula that has bought them great popularity and success. Indeed, more people watch Victoria's matches than those of any other state.

In recent years Victoria has won the Sheffield Shield in the 2009-10, 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons, while making the final in 2005-06 and 2007-08.

Victoria has also won the WNCL on two occasions (2002-03 and 2004-05) and 3 WT20 titles (since replaced by the Women's Big Bash League) in 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12.

In domestic competitions between 1995-96 and 2017-18 the Victorian Men's Cricket Team carried the nickname 'Bushrangers', and between the 1996-97 to 2017-18 WNCL seasons the Victorian Women's Cricket Team carried the nickname 'VicSpirit'.

Before the 2018-19 season Victorian Cricket ceased the usage of both the 'Bushrangers' (2018) and 'VicSpirit' monikers, with the teams to officially be referred to as the Victorian Men's Cricket Team and Victorian Women's Cricket Team.

Both teams wear uniforms bearing the Victorian Cricket Association (VCA) logo. The change in names was made to simplify the number of elite team cricket brands in Victoria, and return to our origins to play for the Vics.
