As we look forward to weekend number three in mad March, there are two huge sports events hitting Melbourne that may not be everyone's cup of tea (see below).

This week we are concentrating on family friendly, community events seeing the petrol heads and footy fans are taken care of.

St Jude's Family Fun Fair



2014 marks the 40th birthday of St Jude's, a major community event in the Knox Region since 1974.

Sunbury Community Festival

Exhibition



The Beatles in Australia



For thirteen days in 1964 the nation was held in a kind of euphoria, captivated by the talent, the songs and the charm of the Fab Four on their concert tour.

This exhibition presents the sights and sounds of Beatlemania - the arrivals, the press conferences, the concerts and the screaming fans - through newsreel footage, television reports, radio coverage, magazines and press clippings.

Rarely seen objects from museums, fans and collectors are displayed.

Kew Traffic School turns 60

Australian Grand Prix



Firstly there is the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix scaring the beejeezes out of the ducks at Albert Park. 13 - 16 March 2014.

AFL Football



Then (our favourite) footy is back! The first AFL Premiership Games for 2014 with Collingwood taking on Fremantle at Marvel Stadium on Friday night and Carlton playing Port Adelaide at Marvel Stadium on Sunday.

NRL Rugby



Melbourne Storm plays its first home game against the Panthers at AAMI Park after last week's nailbiter where they won witha golden goal courtesy of captain courageous Cameron Smith.

Captain Cameron Smith will remain a one-club player and finish his career where it all started after agreeing to terms on a four-year contract extension with Melbourne Storm.

One of our favourite family activities is to take the kids for a ride on a miniature railway. Melbourne and Victoria is lucky enough to have 14 running throughout the year.

Thats one a month to keep you going throughout the year.
