This week it's all snags, flags and tipsy wags as Australia Day is celebrated far and wide with a great range of events across the Long Weekend.
Along with free festivities with Share the Spirit at Treasury Gardens, there's also busking entertainment at Queen Vic Market's Street Performance Festival and even more free celebrations at South Melbourne's Piers Festival.
And for fans of the bat, there's the T20 Cricket International along with one of Melbourne's more curious activities.

GO Festival, held at Carlton's Royal Exhibition Building, is a Girls Only event that gives women the chance to relax and be educated and inspired with plenty of free and fun activities that include special presentations, workshops and stalls that cover fitness, food, health, spirituality, fashion and more.

Green (& Gold) Light Go
Australia Day is celebrated with a wide range of special events held to honour the day with plenty of free events and activities that you'll find in Melbourne and throughout the suburbs with many local councils offering events such as BBQ days, Flag Raising Ceremonies, entertainment and more.

Share the Spirit Festival, Melbourne's official Survival Day Celebrations at Treasury Gardens, is a free festival that recognises and honours the original occupants of this country with a great line-up of performers. The event also includes community market stalls, workshops and children's activities.
When: Saturday January 26 - 1pm to 7pm
Government House Open Day, celebrating Australia Day, allows the public to visit Government House, one of Australia's finest buildings. With many rooms open to view, attractions include house tours along with great activities for children, live music performances, art displays and more.
When: Saturday January 26 - 10am to 3pm
Havaianas Australia Day Thong Challenge, held yearly on Victoria's famous Torquay Beach, invites participants of all ages to join in for a day of fun as they hit the ocean on green and gold inflatable Havaianas thongs to celebrate Australia Day and lend a helping 'foot' to local charities.

Oh, Do You Like to be Beside the Seaside?
Piers Festival, held at Port Melbourne's Station and Princes Piers, is a celebration of migration that offers fun for all the family. Free to attend, the festival features live music and dance performances, markets, exhibitions, forums and other attractions that culminate in a spectacular fireworks display.
When: Sunday January 27 - 2pm to 9:30pm
Festival of Sails, Australia's largest sailing regatta with over 400 yachts racing from Williamstown to Geelong, offers great action for sailing fans along with fantastic free family entertainment on Geelong's shores with live music, roving entertainers, fireworks, children's rides, animals and more.
When: Saturday to Monday, January 26 to 28
How'd You Like Them Apples?
Australia Day Cider Festival, held at Fitzroy's Brunswick Street Cider House, showcases the tasty talents of 9 of Australia's most influential cider producers. Along with live entertainment, entry includes complimentary cider samples, food and access to festival exclusive limited release ciders.

Lend a Hand or Two... Two! Ah-ah-ah!
Flying Fox Count, held by Parks Victoria at Yarra Bend Park, takes place once a month at dusk when Melbourne's entire colony of bats flies out to feed throughout Melbourne's many suburbs. With new counters welcome and much appreciated and training provided on the night, bookings are required.

Whodunnits
The Other Place, performed at Melbourne Arts Centre, is Sharr White's hit play that had audiences gasping at every turn in New York. The gripping thriller follows Dr Juliana Smithton, whose life as a scientist takes a disorientating twist surrounded by lies when interrupted by a mysterious girl.
When: January 26 to March 2
Here Lies Henry, held at St Kilda's Theatre Works, is a compelling dramatic comedy that challenges the conventional relationship between actor and audience. Provocative and uncompromising, this play about life, love and lies is as elusive as it is enlightening and as profound as it is funny.

Garden Variety Follies
Street Performance Festival, presented by Queen Victoria Market, sets Summer ablaze with free entertainment from Melbourne's best buskers, circus acts and street performers, centre stage in Queen Street, while chalk artists, statue artists and musicians entertain shoppers in String Bean Alley.
When: Friday to Sunday, January 25 to 27
The Garden Party brings a vacant lot in Southbank to life with an outdoor music festival with a difference that offers Astroturf and street art, deck-chairs and DJs, flowers and funk as it presents a line-up of some of the biggest names in Australian and international indie, electro and soul music.
When: Fridays to Sundays - Until February 17
Tiny Thumbs Up for a World Trip
Tiny Thumbelina, performed in Ashwood by the Hartwell Players, is a children's musical that will entertain the whole family. Filled with singing, dancing, villains and heroes, the colourful production takes you into Thumbelina's small and perilous world as she tries to find the Land of the Little People.
When: Friday & Saturday, January 25 & 26
Around The World and Back Again, performed at Carlton's La Mama Theatre by Two Friends Productions, is a fun-filled play about one very brave Sea Captain and his nervous Sailor Assistant - a quirky duo who are determined to sail the seas and make amazing discoveries just like the early explorers.

Well, Sri Me Lanka, Me Hearties!
KFC T20 International brings the big hitters of Australian Cricket to Melbourne when they take on the Sri Lanka's own best in an action-packed match.

MCG - Melbourne Cricket Grounds, Jolimont
Australian Open, held at Melbourne Park, plays host to the hottest event on the Tennis calendar. Running across two weeks, the much loved Grand Slam sees the world's finest tennis pros take to the courts with matches taking place at Rod Laver Arena, Hisense Arena and the Margaret Court Arena.
