This week there's much ado with community festivals taking place in Kew, Sunshine, Mooroolbark and Werribee and just ahead of the upcoming school holidays, there's already a treat or two for the kids with the Grantville Pirate Festival and the City of Casey Kids Carnival.
Bloggers with the travelling bug can enjoy the Australian Festival of Travel Writing and for foodies there are quite a few festivals at hand celebrating the autumn harvest in all its tasty glory.

It's a March, March, March, March World
Mad March, rightly named for the abundance of events held in what's most definitely Melbourne's busiest month of the year, literally has something for everyone with a range of exciting events that cover everything from comedy, arts and theatre to food, children's festivals, world class sporting events and much, much more!

Location! Location! Location!
Sunshine Festival, presented by the city of Brimbank, offers a great day of entertainment for the family with market and food stalls, carnival rides, live music and the Brimbank Youth Stage with local dance and rap performers, Skate and BMX clinics and the Brimbank Stars competition showcasing talent within the community.

Kew Community Festival showcases the spirit of its local community groups and businesses with special events that include a vibrant street parade that ends at Kew's Victoria Park where Kewmunity Day will take place offering a fun celebration of food, craft and market stalls, rides and free entertainment for kids.

Celebrate Mooroolbark Festival, which opens with the popular Mooroolbark Talent Quest, offers a day of festivities that include a colourful street parade that leads to Red Earth Community Park where there'll be free music performances, food stalls, markets, fun rides, roving performers, arts and crafts, kids' activities and more.
When: Friday & Saturday, March 22 & 23
Weerama Festival, the largest community event presented by the City of Wyndham, takes place in Werribee's Watton Street and Chirnside Park where a range of family events on offer include a children's picnic, amusements, extreme sports zone, live music and a spectacular Torchlight Procession along with fireworks.

Umm... Where Are We Again?
Australian Festival of Travel Writing held at University of Melbourne, is a three-day program of events to promote the growing popularity of travel and travel writing. With public forums and workshops, the program features a line-up of internationally acclaimed writers, broadcasters and travel authorities.

Bless the Pirates and the Children
City of Casey Kids Carnival is a free event celebrating children and young people held at Akoonah Park in Berwick. With fun for the whole family, the festival features free carnival rides, roving entertainers, animals from the Myuna Farm's Mobile Arc, a reptile display, circus acts, Aboriginal sand art and more.
When: Saturday March 23 - 10am to 4pm
Grantville Pirate Festival, held at the award winning Maru Koala and Animal Park, offers a great day of fun for kids with entry on the day including unlimited games of Pirate Pete's Mini-golf along with other fun activities with the Wooden Leg Throw, Tug o' War, roving pirates, a live show and prizes for costumes on the day.
When: Saturday March 23 - 10am to 3pm
Kids ArtyFarty Fest, part of the Banyule Festival, presents a day that's jam-packed full of fun and creative activities for children. Held at Warringal Parklands located in Heidelberg, attractions include a giant slide, cubby house building, face painting, dancing, singing, storybook reading, farm animals, workshops and more.

Hitting Rock Basin
Basin Music Festival, a community run event that's held to promote musicians from The Basin and Melbourne's eastern suburbs, returns with a great program of performances by over 100 bands of differing styles along with free outdoor concerts and a special family day with children's performers and activities.

Brunswick Music Festival, one of Victoria's most lauded multicultural events, offers a great program of concerts and attractions with this year's festival celebrating 25 years by presenting a quarter-century retrospective of their favourite festival artists along with the best of new local talent and brilliant international acts.

My Itinerary Runneth Over
CERES Harvest Festival celebrates the Autumn harvest at East Brunswick's Community Environment Park with a day of festivities for the family with live music and entertainment, tours, market stalls offering fantastic produce and crafts, gardening workshops, free-range animal displays and activities for children.
When: Saturday March 23
Harvest 'N' Graze Festival, taking place at Montsalvat in Eltham, showcases the best of mouth-watering gourmet producers, the freshest local seasonal growers along with offering great fun for the whole family with music guests Pseudo Echo, cooking demonstrations, children's activities and roving performers.
When: Sunday March 24 - 10am to 6pm
Collingwood Harvest Festival, an annual event held at Harmsworth Park on the grounds of the Collingwood Housing Estate, celebrates the harvest of vegetables grown in the estate's Community Gardens. Activities on the day include market stalls, garden tours, live theatre performances and workshops for children.

Hay... Achoo to You Too!
Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show, taking place at the heritage-listed Royal Exhibition Building and Carlton Gardens, is Australia's largest and most popular horticulture event with an enormous number of exhibitors, gardens designed especially for the show, celebrity guests and much more.

Still Life in Motion
Moving Still, one of three exhibitions showing at Red Gallery in Fitzroy North, is a series of works by Kate Wallace, whose paintings draw out the strange intimacy of public space as they use the setting of train carriages to frame an everyday narrative, capturing anonymous commuters in moments of quiet introspection.

In the Thick of It, held at Blindside Gallery in Melbourne's Nicholas Building, is an exhibition of works by Melanie Upton. An examination of the processes of decay, Upton's post-apocalyptic works makes use of thrown away packaging and receptacles, which are cast to create contemporary and archaeological fossils.

Black in Form
William Reid Stakes, the Friday Night Racing Season Finale at Moonee Valley Racing Club, sees Black Caviar return to the track that saw the champion mare take 2011's Group 1 race. The night of racing includes entertainment to celebrate Black Caviar's ongoing and amazing contribution to Australian racing.

AAMI Park, Melbourne
Jeep Polo Cup is a chance to see some of Australia's top polo players competing in what's one of the fastest growing spectator sports in the world. Held at one of Melbourne's most beautiful settings with the event taking place at Werribee Mansion, the event proudly supports the Women's Cancer Foundation.
