Yu-U Japanese Restaurant |
To be fair, Yu-U Japanese Restaurant is a little camera shy but other than not having a web site, it is hardly one of Melbourne's best kept secrets as reported on one web site.
They are busy because the food is damn good as our reviewer reported in 2008.. one of my favourite Japanese restaurants in Melbourne, by Monica.
Serving fantastic Japanese cuisine in a low key atmosphere, Yu-u is a great place to dine.
Finding the restaurant is a bit of an adventure in itself, with the entrance being a graffiti covered steel door with no obvious signage.
The dimly lit space of concrete and hardwood adds an ounce of tradition to the distinctly modern basement space, while accoutrements such as the heavy ceramic dishes are a unique touch. The modern Japanese menu is simply spectacular, including fresh sashimi and oh-so-tender wagyu beef with teriyaki sauce. Sit at the U-shaped bar or share the communal bench with other diners while you enjoy individual atmosphere of this Japanese bistro.
