Capital City Trail |
Capital City Trail is a smooth, flat 29.6 kilometre circuit that is a fabulous way of seeing Melbourne by cycle or walk.
The Capital City Trail is a shared path for bikes and pedestrians that loops for around around Melbourne.
It starts at Southbank following the Yarra past landmarks such as the Victorian Arts Centre, the Royal Botanic Gardens, the MCG, Melbourne Park and Como House, Herring Island Environmental Sculpture Park, Burnley Gardens, Dights Falls and Yarra Bend Park.
For the second half of the Capital City Trail, you follow the old Inner Circle Railway through Royal Park, Moonee Ponds Creek towards Docklands, pass the Polly Woodside Maritime Museum and then the Exhibition Centre, before making it back to Southbank.
Along the way, there are many worthwhile stops including the Abbotsford Convent, the Melbourne Zoo at Royal Park and the 'very Melbourne' neighbourhoods of Fitzroy North and Brunswick.
