Crowded House |
Crowded House formed in Melbourne in 1985 with Neil Finn, Paul Hester and Nick Seymour along with Tim Finn, Mitchell Froom and Mark Hart.
Between 1985 and 1996 hits included Don't Dream It's Over, Something So Strong, Better Be Home Soon, Fall at Your Feet and Weather With You.
Crowded House called it quits in 1996 after their "Farewell To The World"concert on the steps of the Sydney Opera House. The concert had one of the highest live audiences in Australian history with varying reports of the audience being 120,000-250,000 people.
Crowded House's standing in their adopted home of Melbourne is such that the Melbourne Museum For Performing Arts displays a Crowded House exhibition, containing assorted memorabilia of the group.

FOUR SEASONS IN ONE DAY
Written By Neil and Tim Finn.
Is this the most famous Melbourne song? Kiwi Neil Finn with two Melburnians took the title from Melbourne's erratic weather. It was written at Murchison Street, St Kilda East - Finn-o-philes believe "the sun shines on the black clouds hanging over the domain" could refer to the Kings Domain at the Botanical Gardens.
Is there any song that better describes Melbourne's weather?
During the opening bars of this song at a concert in 2010, Neil called out.. this is your song Melbourne!
Four seasons in one day
Lying in the depths of your imagination
Worlds above and worlds below
The sun shines on the black clouds
Hanging over the domain
Even when you're feeling warm
The temperature could drop away
Like four seasons in one day
Smiling as the shit comes down
You can tell a man from what he has to say
Everything gets turned around
And I will risk my neck again
You can take me where you will
Up the creek and through the mill
Like all the things you can't explain
Four seasons in one day
CHORUS
Blood dries up
Like rain, like rain
Fills my cup
Like four seasons in one day
WEATHER WITH YOU
Written By N. Finn & T. Finn
57 Mount Pleasant Street
Walking 'round the room singing Stormy Weather At 57 Mount Pleasant Street Now it's the same room but everything's different You can fight the sleep but not the dream Things ain't cookin' in my kitchen.
Where is 57 Mount Pleasant Street?
Crowded House
The name "Crowded House"was inspired by the cramped accommodation in Hollywood where the band spent 1985 rehearsing their debut album. The band was originally called "The Mullanes", Mullane being Neil Finn's middle name.
