Opera Australia: The Magic Flute

The Magic Flute

Opera Australia presents
The Magic Flute
Mozart

A daring rescue, perilous trials and a journey towards the light: Mozart's much-loved opera takes audiences into a surreal world where nothing is quite as it first appears.

The Magic Flute follows Prince Tamino's quest to rescue Pamina and the challenges the young pair must overcome. Filled with humour and heart, their adventure unfolds through imaginative sets and costumes inspired by the worlds of Jules Verne and H.G. Wells.

Mozart's extraordinary music is at the centre of it all, including the famously soaring notes of the Queen of the Night aria. Together with the colourful staging, it makes this production a feast for the eyes and ears.

Director Sir Thomas Allen brings more than half a century of experience performing and interpreting Mozart to a staging rich in whimsy, wit and wonder. Celebrated by audiences and critics across the UK, his production combines theatrical invention with the enduring appeal of Mozart's final opera.

Featuring international talent alongside a new generation of Australian stars, The Magic Flute promises an entertaining night at the opera for newcomers and long-time admirers alike.
